(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – State Sen Dan McConchie (R-Hawthorn Woods) has used a wheelchair for almost twenty years – and he is resigning his seat in the General Assembly to start a national organization which he says will advocate to make life better for the disabled.
A hit-and-run accident in 2007 severed McConchie’s spinal cord and cost him the use of his legs.
His new organization is called the Accessibility Policy Institute.
McConchie has served almost nine years in the legislature, including one term as Senate minority leader.
