DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – Gas and diesel fuel prices continue their upward climb, and consumers are feeling the squeeze, especially if they drive for a living.
“I do get some gas relief through work. But at this point it’s getting really bad,” one man told WAND News on Monday. “I was just out in Indy actually and it was only $3.10 out there. Which was a shock to me. So, the gas prices are just totally untenable.”
As of Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gas was $4.47. The average price in Illinois, according to AAA, is $4.90.
Diesel continues to jump. One week ago, it hit a new record high of $6.23 a gallon.
As of Monday morning, the national average was $6.51. An increase of 28 cents per gallon.
