Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – As District 186 tries to find ways to stem the tide of violence in the upcoming school year, there will also be a consistent cell phone policy. There’s a connection …
“I believe that that isn’t too hard to draw,” said superintendent Jennifer Gill (pictured). “When we know that kids are setting up fights through their phones or they’re making threats through their phones, kids are then getting in trouble at school and getting in trouble with law enforcement. It can change the trajectory of your life in a moment.”
Board members Monday said the problem is that the cell phone rules vary by building.
Gill said some of the district’s leaders will take part in a “threat assessment” seminar put on by the state’s attorney’s office in July.
