(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – As Vice President Kamala Harris vets potential candidates to be her running mate, one name that has surfaced is Gov. JB Pritzker. Chicago Sun-Times political reporter Tina Sfondeles posted to social media Wednesday that Harris’ campaign called Pritzker to gauge his interest.

Pritzker appeared on CNN Wednesday and spoke to Jake Tapper about his interest. He declined to elaborate on any private conversations he had with Harris or her campaign staff, but said, “It’d be hard to resist a call and consideration if the nominee called me to ask to be considered for vice president.”

The timeline for Harris to make her selection is short. The Associated Press reports the Democratic party could make her the presidential nominee as soon as Aug. 1 with the nomination of her running mate shortly after.
