Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – When Gov. JB Pritzker gave his budget speech, he said lawmakers who want to increase spending or add new programs must suggest corresponding cuts.

Nobody is beating down his door to do that, he said.

“This is no doubt one of the most challenging budget years, and it’s not because of a lack of revenue, but the reality is we just don’t know,” said Pritzker at a wide-ranging news conference at the Capitol Tuesday. “The chaos that’s coming from Washington, D.C., and the President in particular, and also, the Congress now may be willing to put a stop to some of the things the President is proposing.

Between that and Elon Musk’s political contributions to losing candidates in last week’s election, Pritzker says Americans may be growing weary of Trumpism.

Next year’s midterm elections will give a clearer picture of whether that’s true.
