(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Now that lawmakers have left Springfield, it’s time to ask Gov. JB Pritzker what he is going to do with the bills the legislature sent him.

The Medical Aid in Dying bill passed in the final hours of last week’s session. Pritzker said that was an unexpected development, and his staff is still reviewing the bill. That said, “I know how terrible it is that someone who is the last six months of their life could be experiencing terrible pain and anguish, and I know people who have gone through that, and I know people whose family members have gone through that,” Pritzker told reporters at an unrelated event in Glen Ellyn Monday. “It hits me deeply and makes me wonder about how we can alleviate the pain that they’re going through.”

The Chicago area transit bailout bill – rebuilt and rammed through at the end – and the omnibus energy bill were other major pieces of legislation passed during the October veto session.
