(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Gov. JB Pritzker Monday signed into law what he says is a gun-safety measure – Karina’s Law, in honor of a Chicago woman shot to death, allegedly by her husband.
In mid 2023, Karina Gonzalez and her daughter died on a Chicago street. Lt Goc Juliana Stratton says the time is right for this measure.
“Over the last few days, the White House has begun the process of rolling back common-sense gun safety policies, policies that so many survivors and advocates fought for years to enact,” said Stratton. “The Trump administration has made its disdain for the victims and survivors of gun violence clear. Our administration is making its dedication to victims and survivors unmistakable.”
When there’s an order of protection against someone such as Gonzalez’ husband, they would have to give up his guns, at least temporarily.
