Springfield, IL (WAND) – Helping Hands of Springfield is warning residents about an individual impersonating its workers to help with rent assistance and changing internet providers.

Robert Gillespie, Executive Director of Helping Hands of Springfield, said in a July 9 Facebook post that his organization does not call people without warning to offer services or ask for personal information.

Gillespie also said that his organization does not cold call to ask for donations.

If someone calls saying they are from Helping Hands, residents are urged to hang up and call the organization directly at 217-522-0048.
