Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Horace Mann is once again set to recognize educators who make a difference in the lives of school children in Springfield Public Schools – District 186. Nominations are now open for the annual Horace Mann Educator of the Year awards.

The program recognizes educators and administrators for their contributions.

The awards include three categories:

Educator of the Year – Recognizing an educator with at least five years in the district.

Rising Star – Highlighting up to three educators with four years or less in the district.

Administrator of the Year – Acknowledging an administrator with a minimum of two years in leadership.

To submit a nomination, visit sps186.org. Required information includes the nominee’s name and school, their principal’s name and email, and at least one recommendation letter. Letters can be emailed to rdyas@sps186.org. The deadline for nominations is Feb. 23.
