(WAND) – Ice cream bars that were sold in Illinois have been recalled due to potential listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Rich’s Ice Cream Co. has recalled more than 100,000 products.

The Food and Drug Administration announced the recall on July 17.

Listeria infection is the third leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The recall, which includes a total of 110,292 possible cases, impacts lot number 24351 through lot 25156 and is classified as a “Class II” case. A Class II recall, according to the FDA, is “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
