(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Illinois hunters hit their mark during the 2024 firearm deer season, harvesting a preliminary total of 82,496 deer—an increase from last year’s total of 76,494.
In the second segment of the season, held from Dec. 5-8, hunters harvested 27,835 deer, up from 22,883 during the same period in 2023. The first segment, held Nov. 22-24, contributed 54,661 deer to this year’s total.
Hunters still have chances to participate this season. The late-winter antlerless-only and chronic wasting disease (CWD) seasons are scheduled for Dec. 26-29 and Jan. 17-19 in designated counties. Additionally, archery deer season continues statewide through Jan. 19.
