(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – As we ring in the New Year, Illinois will also be ushering in a hike in the minimum wage for workers. Starting Jan. 1, Illinois workers will get a boost to $15 per hour, as the state wraps up a planned series of wage increases.
Tipped workers will see a raise to $9 per hour. Workers under age 18 and putting in fewer than 650 hours a year will earn $13 per hour. In Chicago, the minimum wage might be even higher depending on the size of the employer.
