Rochester, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – There will be a new superintendent of a local school district in a couple weeks.

The Rochester School District says the board Rolf Sivertsen as Interim Superintendent for the coming school year, giving the district time to start a wider search for a permanent superintendent starting in December.

Siversten will replace Dan Cox, who is stepping down at the end of the month after being on administrative leave the last several months.

In a statement from school board president Amy Reynolds, Siversten has 35 years of education experience will help provide District 3A “the stability and environment our district needs at this time.”

“The Board is committed to fostering a smooth transition, ensuring support for staff, communicating timely, and providing an excellent education for every student,” said Reynolds.

Most recently, Siversten was an interim superintendent at Williamsfield, in Knox County.  He’s also a former superintendent in Canton, in Fulton County.
