Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The continuing investigation into a triple-homicide that occurred one week ago Thursday is looking specifically at one of the shooting victims.
That’s according to a prepared statement from Sangamon County Sheriff Paula Crouch regarding the October 9 deaths of Mhynesha Day, 22; Devione Brady, 21; and Cash Russell, 9. They were found dead at a home on Hoover Avenue, outside of the corporate limits of Springfield, in the Cabbage Patch neighborhood.
Crouch says in a news release that Brady was not related to Day and Russell, nor was he a resident of the home, nor did he have any sort of connection to the residents. It’s believed, Crouch said, that Brady was shot outside the home, while the other two victims were shot inside.
Crouch says as part of the investigation, they continue to investigate and analyze evidence, and are working with other partner law enforcement agencies. Both Illinois State and Springfield Police responded to the scene initially, along with sheriff’s deputies.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sangamon and Menard County Crime Stoppers, at (217) 788-8427.
