Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – DNA tests for remains found after a home fire in Springfield will soon be released. The fire happened May 19 in the 900 block of North 10th Street, and Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says his office was notified June 7 that human remains were discovered.
The coroner recovered the remains over a period of two days and an autopsy followed. A forensic pathologist determined the remains to be male. Specimens were sent to the Illinois State Police for DNA analysis to help determine the identity. Those results are expected to be ready for review in the next week.
