Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield Police are just now releasing details of an incident last week that resulted in a man being charged with attempted murder.
Springfield Police said Tuesday that Montez Bolden, 46, was arrested September 24. Court records indicate Bolden remains held in the Sangamon County Jail after a judge granted a motion to keep him behind bars under the state’s Pretrial Fairness Act.
Police say they responded to an area near 6th and Jefferson Streets just after 3:00am September 24 for a disturbance. Bolden allegedly was kicking and hitting a man in a wheelchair, who later was unconscious and taken to the hospital for treatment. The victim’s condition currently is not known.
Police say investigators collected statements and video surveillance from the area.
According to court records, Bolden — who also faces three counts of aggravated battery for the alleged attack — is scheduled to be back in court October 9 for a preliminary hearing.
