Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – In a hearing held at the Macoupin County Circuit Court, Attorney General, Kwame Raoul, recently charged 28-year-old Jacob D. Monty for allegedly disseminating child sexual abuse material.

This is just one case of many that are part of Raoul’s collaboration with both federal law and local law enforcement agencies, to find and apprehend offenders who download and trade child sexual abuse material over the internet.

Raoul’s investigators, with assistance from the Virden Police Department, conducted a search of Monty’s residence in the 300 block of East Holden Street in Virden.

Monty was arrested after evidence of child sexual abuse material was in fact found in his possession.

In a press release provided by the Attorney General’s office, Raoul stated “Survivors of child abuse and exploitation are revictimized every time an individual downloads or trades one of these horrific photos or videos. My office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force works tirelessly to identify and track down individuals who assault and exploit children. I will continue to partner with local law enforcement to locate and hold these offenders accountable.”

The Attorney General’s office has now officially charged Monty with two counts of dissemination of child pornography. Both counts being Class X felonies that could potentially sentence him to 30 years in prison if he’s found guilty.

As of now, Monty is being held at the Macoupin County Jail, and his next scheduled court date is December 16.

Raoul’s office is prosecuting the case as a team with the Macoupin State’s Attorney, Jordan Garrison’s office.
