SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A man is dead after a weekend crash in Springfield.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says an autopsy conducted on Darren Polk, 62, showed he died from “multiple blunt force injuries.”

Allmon says the crash happened Sunday morning near South 5th and East Laurel Streets.  It’s not clear how many vehicles involved or what specifically happened.  Polk was pronounced dead at a hospital around 6:51 a.m., not long after arriving there.

The crash is still being investigated by Allmon’s office, and Springfield Police.
