Springfield, ILĀ (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Massey Commission gets to work Monday night with its first official hearing. The new commissioners will solidify the commission’s goals and mission. Discussion of a proposal for an independent review of the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department is also on the agenda.
Members of the public will have a chance to speak. The hearing at the Memorial Learning Center at 228 W. Miller will be live streamed on YouTube. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Hearing begins at 6 p.m.
The commission was created by Sangamon County in the wake of the shooting death of Sonya Massey by a Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy in July.
