(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Illinois House minority leader, Tony McCombie (pictured) (R-Savanna), burnished her support of Israel by joining a bipartisan Midwest delegation there for a week of December.
“Over a year ago,” said McCombie, “Hamas terrorists initiated a deadly assault on Israel, slaughtering more than 1,200 men, women, and children and wounding thousands more. More than 250 people were taken hostage, several being American.”
How will what she learned in Israel help her work in Illinois? McCombie answered by comparing the situation to gun-control legislation in Illinois.
“Here we are fighting back and forth on a firearm ban,” she said. “These folks didn’t have firearms in their homes. They didn’t have any protection from a revolting government. That certainly should give people pause. What, ultimately, is the purpose of the Second Amendment, right?
“And that’s happening here in Illinois.”
McCombie said she would re-file a resolution of remembrance of Oct. 7 when the new General Assembly convenes in January.
