Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Our Dog of the Week has a truly sad story. We are looking for adopters for him who will really love him and give him a wonderful life and home.

Copper originally came to Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center in early November 2023 as a stray under a year old. Unfortunately has was passed over for adoption for well over six months even though he was a volunteer favorite because of his sweet playful nature. When he was finally adopted after months of living in a kennel, we were so thrilled and happy for him, expecting he had found a family to love him.

Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case. Copper was returned to SCACAC as a stray on July 8th dragging a huge log chain from his neck.

Copper really is a very nice friendly dog. The volunteers still love him. He plays well with other dogs and is very sweet.

If you are looking for a new best friend, please consider this good boy. He’s waiting to meet you Monday-Friday 10:30-4:15 and Saturday 9:00-1:00.
