Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Our Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control Dog of the Week is currently the longest resident at the shelter. Electra originally came to us in December 2023. She was adopted some time later but was returned in May. She has been waiting since May for a second chance at a new life filled with love and fun.

Electra is 2 years old, and she is energetic but it’s not high energy. She loves to play ball, and she prances around the play yard. Electra loves people and she’s pretty easy to walk. She’s sweet and attentive to the person who is walking her. At a recent off-site adoption event she was well behaved and calm and friendly to everyone she met.

Big black dogs are the last dogs to get adopted out of shelters. It could be because there are so many of them, they just kind of blend in. If you’re looking for a new best friend, please come and meet Electra and spend some time outside with her. Once you get to know her sweet personality, you’ll see she’s a special girl.

You can meet Electra and all the other adoptable cats and dogs at Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center Monday-Friday 10:30-4:15 and Saturday 9:00-1:00.
