Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Our Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control Dog of the Week has been waiting way too long for someone to choose him to be their new best friend.

King is a handsome young dog who arrived at Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center months ago as a seven month old owner surrender. Unfortunately this good boy has grown up in a kennel. He’s a big black dog and they are often overlooked in shelters. His kennel is also the last one in the kennel run so people may miss him when they tour the kennels. This good boy is a wonderful dog who deserves a chance at a good life.

King loves to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Living in a kennel for months hasn’t affected his fun loving personality. He loves to be in the play yard where he can pick up his favorite toy, play for a while and then take a break to lay down in the shade before picking up his toy again for more fun. King will make a great buddy for an active person who loves the outdoors.

Please come out to Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center to meet King and all of the other adoptable dogs. Hours are Monday-Friday 10:30-4:15 and Saturday 9:00-1:00. ALL DOGS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTERING OR FOSTER TO ADOPT. Staff will be happy to explain your options.
