Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The kennels at Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center are full and new dogs arrive every day. We are always looking for adopters and people willing to foster a dog. It’s especially challenging to find adopters and fosters for senior dogs.

Our Dog of the Week is a lovely senior girl who will be a wonderful new addition to the right family. Oma is an eight year old Rottweiler mix. She’s a good dog who was abandoned by her previous owner and is a strong girl who came to us in good condition. She walks pretty well on a leash and a volunteer says Oma was protective of her when she took her for a walk. If you’re looking for a new loyal best friend Oma might be a good fit for you. She’s available for foster and adoption.

You can meet Oma and all of the other adoptable dogs during shelter hours Monday-Friday 10:30-4:15 and Saturday 9:00-1:00.
