Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield man’s been convicted in federal court of drug and weapons charges. A jury returned guilty verdicts Wednesday against James Russwinkel on possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of a firearm to commit a drug crime, and possession of a firearm or ammuintion by a felon. In 2020, police did a traffic stop and found there was a warrant out for Russwinkel. They found a backpack with more than 26 grams of meth, a gun, and almost fifteen thousand dollars cash. He will be sentenced in October.
