CLINTON, Ill. (WAND) — More jobs are on the way to Clinton after Meyer Utility Structures repurposed its wind tower manufacturing site.
The company’s purpose is to make large steel utility poles that hold up transmission lines. VP of Sales and Marketing James Richardson said this plays a huge role for the country.
“Those poles are vital to the health of American infrastructure. They hold the wires that carry power long distances, and this plant is going to help fuel the infrastructure and power grid for the U.S.,” Richardson said.
Richardson says providing jobs to the community means a lot to him and the company. So far, the facility has 110 employees and plans to grow to more than 200 as operations ramp up.
“We’re in a very interesting and hot part of the economy, energy and infrastructure,” Richardson said. “We’ve all heard a lot of discussions about infrastructure within the country, but really, it’s about keeping the lights on. If we can do that and bring jobs and keep them employed, it’s thrilling.”
The event included facility tours and a firsthand look at the investments, expanded capabilities and manufacturing operations supporting the facility’s future.
Vice President of Operations Harsha Bhojraj said the turnout means everything to those who worked hard to get the facility to this point.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the team to look at our customers, our community, and feel recognized for the hard work — blood, sweat and tears that went into standing up this plant,” Bhojraj said.
Bhojraj said the company is still welcoming people to join the team, with many different positions available.
“We’re still continuing to hire. So please come on by; we have positions at the hourly level, the salary level, and multiple roles as we continue to grow and thrive,” Bhojraj said.
