Springfield, ILĀ (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Moving Pillsbury Forward has received a donation likely dating back to the 1930s and is asking for the public’s help in adding to item’s story. It’s an original labeled wooden barrel from the old Pillsbury plant in Springfield.
Here are the basics:
The top of the barrel is labelled: To Pillsbury Flour Co. Springfield Ills. in black ink handwriting. In the same black ink, the top is also stamped with Stout Faulstich (sp) Baking Supply Co. The wooden barrel was sent to the Springfield Pillsbury plant in the early years of operation, likely between 1929 and 1940.

The barrel was purchased at an auction in Central Illinois about 40 years ago. The owner moved to Wisconsin and after hearing about the MPF artifact collection from a relative, she decided to donate the item.
MPF is asking anyone with information on the barrel’s history to contact them at movingpillsburyforward@gmail.com.
