Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A man who worked with the Illinois Association of Realtors for fifteen years is now representing the state’s business community.
According to a news release, Jimmy Clayton will become the President and CEO of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, starting April 1.
Clayton left his job as Senior Director, State Government Affairs with Illinois REALTORS in January.
“I am honored to be joining the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and look forward to building our membership and rekindling the strong history of the Illinois Chamber‘s position and stature in service to Illinois businesses,” said Clayton, in a news release.
Clayton replaces Lou Sandoval, who left the chamber last November. Dan Wagner has served as interim CEO since then. It’s not clear of Sandoval was terminated or voluntarily left, as the chamber only said he was departing.
“Clayton’s lobbying experience, reputation, coupled with his work ethic and innovative ideas while balancing attention to detail are qualities that the Chamber was looking for in our new CEO,” said Tony Reinhard, Ford Motor Company and chair of the Search Committee, in a news release.
Clayton is a resident of Springfield, is married, and has two young children.
