Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – So you’re 55 or better. But if you’re willing and able to work, why not keep on?
HAP Foundation president Joe Matty (pictured) says thirteen Springfield-area folks have been trained, or re-trained, for health careers.
“Some individuals have retired and wanted to grow their knowledge and go into different careers,” Matty said. “Other people are looking for a life change; maybe they have been downsized. Maybe their field doesn’t exist anymore, and they’re wanting to get into healthcare.
“When we looked into this about four years ago, we were going into covid, and everybody kept on talking about how people are leaving the healthcare profession and (we asked ourselves) how can we at the HAP Foundation fill that void for healthcare workers, how can we fill that pipeline?”
The drive to produce community health workers, put on by the HAP Foundation and AmeriCorps Seniors.
