Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, has confirmed the death of a Springfield man whose body was discovered during a structure fire Friday evening at a residence in the 1500 block of South 8th Street in Springfield. The coroner’s office was notified and responded to the scene, where the individual was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning, and the man’s identity will be released after notifying his next of kin. The death is currently under investigation by the Springfield Fire Department, the Springfield Police Department, and the Sangamon County Coroner’s office.
