Springfield, ILĀ (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield police are asking the public to avoid the area of 11th and East Madison streets after a pedestrian was struck by train.
Officers responded to the area around 9:30 a.m. Monday and found the injured man on the east side of the Norfolk Southern train tracks. Authorities confirmed the man had been hit by a train, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area while the incident remains under investigation.
