Springfield, ILĀ  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – After initially believing all was lost in the fire at 413 E. Adams St. in June, Moving Pillsbury Forward has now recovered some of the Pillsbury plant artifacts from the damaged building. MPF President Chris Richmond estimates they were able to recover 30% of the art and artifact collection that was stored and exhibited on the third floor. Among the items recovered are the bicep doughboy panel, the smutters chalkboard, three custom metal grain scoops, and the service department rolodex.

Richmond reports the building was released back to the owners last week which allowed access to the structurally sound portion of the back of the building. He said it took several hours of careful digging through the debris, and some of the “best artifacts” were collected.

MPF is currently searching for a new home for the artifacts for a new exhibit and long-term preservation.
