(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A lucky Powerball player in Central Illinois just scored a $150,000 win.
The lucky ticket was sold at Casey’s General Store, located at 1161 W. State Hwy. 54 in Clinton. The winner matched four out of five numbers plus the Powerball in Wednesday night’s drawing. The winning numbers were 24-28-40-63-65, with the Powerball number 20.
The Powerball ticket, which costs $2, included the additional $1 Power Play feature, tripling the total prize to $150,000.
The Illinois Lottery encourages the winner to sign the back of their ticket and store it in a safe place until they are ready to claim their prize. Winners have one year from the drawing date to collect their earnings.
In total, more than 14,000 Illinois Lottery players won prizes in Wednesday’s drawing, totaling over $246,000. As a bonus for selling the winning ticket, Casey’s in Clinton will receive a one percent commission, amounting to $1,500.
This isn’t the first big win for the retailer. In March 2023, another lucky player purchased a $450,000 winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket at the same Casey’s location.
So far this year, Illinois players have won more than $4.5 million from Powerball tickets, with over 413,000 winning tickets sold.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. The jackpot for Saturday’s drawing now stands at an estimated $320 million.
