(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Gov. JB Pritzker continued his anti-Trump crusade Tuesday, using a roundtable discussion in East St. Louis to protest proposed cuts to SNAP — formerly the program known as food stamps.
And Pritzker says the program does more than fill people’s bellies.
“Every dollar that gets spent on SNAP generates $1.54 for local economies,” said the governor.. That’s good. Spend a dollar, get $1.54. And it contributes $7.2 billion in the GDP.”
Pritzker said the Trump administration wants to take away the benefits from 360,000 Illinoisans, of 1.9 million currently on the program.
