Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The City of Springfield wants to alert residents and commuters about two street closures for infrastructure maintenance.

Railroad Track Repairs at 6th and North Grand

Repairs will be conducted on the railroad tracks at the intersection of 6th Street and North Grand Avenue. To ensure the safety of both workers and the public, a full closure of 6th Street at this location will be necessary. The closure is scheduled to start on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 7:00 PM and will continue until Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 7:00 AM.

Equipment Replacement at The Wyndham

Additionally, the Wyndham Hotel will be replacing equipment on May 23, 2024, which necessitates the use of a crane. As a result, 8th Street between Monroe Street and Adams Street will be closed for the day. This one-day closure will ensure that the equipment replacement is carried out safely and efficiently.
