Raymond J. Quinn, 89, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. Ray was born on November 1, 1934, in Cooperstown, IL., the son of Raymond and Gladys (Coulter) Quinn. He married Mildred I. Cox in Hersman, IL. on February 9, 1957. Ray served his country in the United States Army from 1955 and 1957 while being stationed in Germany. He was a member of Eastview Baptist Church and Sheet Metal Workers Local 218. Ray enjoyed woodworking, furniture making, gardening, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Thelma (Quinn) Vincent; and two brothers, Ronald and Gerald Quinn.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred; one daughter Lynn D. (Kevin) Spell; one son, Steven R. (Pamela) Quinn; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one great great grandchild; one brother George (Peg) Quinn as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 10:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00AM at Eastview Baptist Church 2277 E Black Ave, Springfield, IL 62702. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM at Hersman Cemetery in Hersman, IL.
Memorial donations may be made to Eastview Baptist Church or to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
