Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield got out of Monday’s two rounds of severe weather pretty much unscathed — at least, as much as it could.
The National Weather Service says some large hail reports came in from this area along with wind gusts over 50 miles per hour at times. And, other than some power outages and downed trees or branches, not much happened between the morning and late-afternoon rounds of rain.
But both the Weather Service and our news partners at WAND-TV say Springfield set a single day record for rainfall Monday, at more than three inches. Lincoln did, too.
Outside of a little more rain Tuesday, most of the rest of the week is expected to be dry and nice. Highs most of the rest of the week will be in the mid-60’s.
