Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Republicans in the Illinois legislature were, to say the least, not impressed with what they heard from the governor.
Even though he wants to eliminate state-paid health care for undocumented migrants age 42-64, State Rep. Norine Hammond (pictured, right) (R-Macomb) says that doesn’t go far enough.
“There is no comment on cutting costs for the entire population and saving that money so that we can at least put a portion of that into healthcare benefits,” Hammond said.
And State Rep. Ryan Spain (pictured, left) (R-Peoria) sounded a word of caution.
“If Gov. Pritzker is running for president, we are concerned about what sort of ticking time bombs may he leave behind that the taxpayers of Illinois are going to have to deal with at some point,” Spain said.
Republicans said the speech was all about a run for president, adding that when Pritzker does run, it will not be against Donald Trump.
