Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) — A new survey hitting randomly selected mailboxes across Sangamon County this week is giving residents a chance to speak up about mental health services and needs in the community.
The Sangamon County Mental Health Commission is asking those who receive the survey to take a few minutes to fill it out. The results will help the county identify gaps in mental health services, understand local needs, and explore funding options for long-term improvements.
“This survey is one of the most important ways the public can directly influence how we move forward as a county to address mental health,” said Mike Murphy, chair of the SCMHC.
Participation is by invitation only to ensure the data reflects a fair sample of county residents. Survey responses will remain anonymous.
The SCMHC was formed by the Sangamon County Board following a recommendation from the Massey Commission. It includes community leaders, health care providers and other stakeholders who will make formal recommendations to the board by Dec. 1, 2025.
