Richard E. “Dick” Poynter, 74, of Springfield, died on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital.

He was born on October 28, 1949, in Springfield, IL.

Memorial Gathering & Service: Family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Service will follow at 5:30 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Kent Lolling officiating.

Inurnment will be held at Indian Point Cemetery in Athens, at a later date.
