Richard Gary Bell, 75, of Pana, IL, passed away on September 13, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL, surrounded by family.

Richard was born on November 17, 1948, in Springfield, IL, the son of William and Dorothy (Fields) Bell.

Richard joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Richard enjoyed hanging out with family and friends, fishing, hunting gardening, and had a passion for antique cars. He married Charlotte J. Bray on March 23, 2002 in Tanner, West Virginia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and daughter Sherri Lynn Frost.

Richard is survived by his wife, Charlotte Bell; son Tony (Missy) Bell, daughter Kelli (Josh) Smith, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 25. 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery at 12:00PM where Richard will receive military honors from the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail.
