Today, July 10, 2024, marks the 35th anniversary of the Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center (CAC). An open house was held this morning at the Sangamon County CAC, located at 1101 East Monroe in Springfield, to celebrate.  Among those present were founding director Betsy Goulet, Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser, who also serves as the chairman of the Child Advocacy Center Advisory Board, and current Executive Director Denise Johnson.

Since its inception, the Sangamon County CAC has served thousands of children and helped them cope with the traumatic effects of child abuse. Their mission is to provide a coordinated and multidisciplinary approach to child abuse investigations in Logan, Sangamon, Christian, and Menard counties. They also strive to provide a safe child focused setting for investigations of child abuse, ensure victims and their families receive quality service, and raise awareness in the community to combat child abuse.

If you would like to support the Child Advocacy Center their next fundraising event is Glo Bingo on September 26th at Motorheads Bar and Grill.
