Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Sangamon County is searching for a new representative for District 21 following the passing of Clyde Bunch. The county board is now accepting applications, with a deadline set for 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.

Qualified candidates must be registered voters in District 21, members of the Democratic Party—the same party Bunch represented—and residents of Sangamon County for at least one year prior to the appointment.

Applicants should submit a resume, a letter of interest, and any supporting materials, such as letters of recommendation. Submissions can be emailed to county@sangamonil.gov or delivered in person to the temporary Sangamon County Board Office, located in the Sangamon South Building at 300 S. 9th St., Floor #2, Springfield.

The new board member will be announced during the county board meeting on Feb. 11. The appointee will serve until a special election in November 2026.
