Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) — It’s time to clean out the medicine cabinet. If you have old prescription medications collecting dust, local officials are offering a safe way to dispose of them.
The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 26. The drop-off event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sangamon County Department of Public Health, 2833 S. Grand Ave. in Springfield.
Tablets, capsules, patches and other solid prescription drugs will be accepted. Liquid medications will also be collected, as long as they are sealed in their original containers. Syringes, sharps and illicit drugs will not be accepted.
All disposals are free and anonymous.
