Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) –  By the 2025 spring season. Southeast High School track and field athletes will have a new track.

“Southeast has always had a rich history of track and field, and now we get to revamp it, upgrade it, to allow our athletes to continue to be great,” said principal Cody Trigg after Thursday morning’s groundbreaking.

It’s part of the district-wide Our Schools, Our Future program funded by a voter-approved one-cent sales tax.

Friday there’s another groundbreaking: for the overhaul of Springfield High School.
