Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Illinois lawmakers have yet to vote on a budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1.

The Senate holds the budget bill and is expected to convene Sunday, pass the budget to the House, and adjourn until fall. The House, which sent its members home late Saturday, would then come in Tuesday and have final passage of the roughly $53 billion budget Thursday, to satisfy the requirement that a bill be read three times in three days.

As is always the case at the statehouse, things change quickly, and everything is subject to change.

The Illinois General Assembly set a May 24 adjournment date but marked May 25-31 as “contingent” session days.
