Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Tuesday’s election an overwhelming majority of incumbents elected to another term based on unofficial results.

U.S. Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski is the projected winner in the 13th Congressional District over opponent Republican Joshua Loyd.

In the Illinois House of Representatives, incumbents Dr. Bill Hauter, Mike Coffey, and Sue Scherer will each serve another term in the General Assembly.

In Sangamon County, Republican Joe Roesch will head into his first full term as circuit clerk after defeating Juwanda Burrage.  Roesch received nearly 62% of the vote.

It was a tight race between incumbent Democrat Josh Langfelder and Republican Frank Lesko for county recorder.  Just 68 votes separated the two candidates with 100% of the precincts reporting. Lesko, currently Springfield city clerk, came out on top with 50.03% of the vote. Provisional and potentially some mail-in ballots still need to be counted in Sangamon County before the election is certified. It is unknown if those ballots could change the outcome.

Republican John Milhiser will return to the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office for another term after taking 61% of the vote against Democratic challenger Kimberly Talken.

In Sangamon County Board races, the following incumbents came away from Tuesday’s election with a win:

  • Tom Madonia, Jr. (R)- District 9
  • Greg Stumpf (R) – District 16
  • Andy Van Meter (R) – District 24
  • Jennifer Deaner (R) – District 25
  • Justin Davsko (R)- District 26
  • Abe Forsyth (R)- District 27
  • Marc Ayers (D) – District 12

Several board members also picked up a win in uncontested races including:

  • Thomas Radar (R) – District 8
  • Brad Miller (R) – District 13
  • Tim Krell (R) – District 15
  • Annette Fulgenzi (R) – District 17
  • Vera Small (D) – District 19
  • Clyde Bunch (D) – District 21
  • Gina Lathan (D) – District 22
  • Kevin McGuire (D) – District 28

Voters in Pleasant Plains overwhelmingly voted in favor of an elected fire protection board instead an appointed one. Virden voters voted in favor of a formation of a special service area for the Virden Fire Protection District. Rochester voters, however, were not in favor of increasing the limiting rate for the Rochester Public Library District.
