(8/29 8:45 am) Several people were reportedly struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning in the area of 5th Street and North Grand Avenue. Springfield police responded around 12:30 a.m. and determined a gold Lexus had driven over a curb and then proceeded into the Qik-n-EZ parking lot nearby. After an altercation between the driver and two people in the lot, police say the driver got back in the vehicle, drove into a group of people on the sidewalk, then drove off.

Information released by Deputy Chief Sara Pickford indicates the vehicle ran over the legs of a woman who had been sitting on the sidewalk. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Springfield Memorial Hospital. The driver also reportedly drove over the feet of another person. He refused medical attention.

SPD located the unoccupied vehicle near the intersection of 6th Street and Keys Avenue. Officers found identification, believed to belong to the driver, in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the SPD investigation is ongoing.
