Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The village of Sherman is once again hosting a summertime concert series at their amphitheater, starting Saturday night.

The series has been going on since just before the pandemic.  And village Mayor Trevor Clatfelter tells the WTAX Morning Newswatch it was born out of something the village does all the time:  seeking input from residents.

“I saw that, and I loved that, so did the Village Board,” said Clatfelter.  “We put it in, situated it in our (Tax Increment Financing) District, right in front of The Rail, executed it, and made it happen.”

Most of the concert are scheduled on Saturdays like the openers Saturday evening, and others may be on Thursdays or Fridays.  Many performances will be tribute bands, but an up and coming country star is next week:  Lanie Gardner.

“She’s an up and coming country star,” said Clatfelter.  “Last year, she was touring with Jelly Roll.  She’s literally…this weekend, she’s playing CMA Fest.  The Jonas Brothers discovered her.”

Tickets for most shows are $15 for Sherman residents, $18 for everyone else.  See the schedule, and enter to win a four-pack of tickets, by CLICKING HERE.
