SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The season of fun and scares is upon us, and so is all the Halloween themed events that are coming to the Lincoln Library. Lana Shovlin of the Lincoln Library was a guest on the WTAX Morning Newswatch discussing all the Halloween themed events coming to the library.

“There was a program that we did in the past called the Job Macabre, that was super popular. People loved it. It’s a little bit quirky.
It a little bit fun. There are 2 programs in the Job Macabre, but this one that’s coming up on October 3rd. We are having New York Times obituary writer, Sam Roberts, join us via Zoom.
He written a book called Are They Dead Yet? The Art of the Obit. You can imagine.
I’m sure he’s heard the most insane stories as an obituary writer”

Of course, you cannot forget about their monthly book club theme.

“We have the Spine Tinglers Book Club coming up.
This is something that obviously we’re highlighting this month, but this is every single month that we do this. This is really cool. This is for people that kind of like reading a little bit more on our side of things.
This is a really, really great book club for people that are looking to do something like this. We have this one going for you. We have many book clubs, but this one, if you’re into horror novels, this is perfect for you.”
